Our Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) training courses are suitable for beginners, tattoo artists, permanent makeup artists, beauty therapists, barbers, hairdressers, and career changers looking to enter the hair restoration industry. No previous SMP experience is required for our Fundamental Course.
2. Do I need tattoo experience before learning SMP?
No. Our Fundamental SMP Course is designed specifically for beginners. You'll learn everything from infection control and machine handling through to treating live models.
3. What makes Hair Ink SMP Gold Coast different from other SMP academies?
Unlike many training providers, all courses are delivered one-on-one by Georgia Elson, giving you personalised guidance, live model experience, bonus shadow days, and ongoing mentorship after graduation.
4. Will I receive an SMP certificate after completing the course?
Yes. Upon successful completion, you'll receive a Certificate of Completion recognising your professional Scalp Micropigmentation training and practical skills.
5. Is your SMP training accredited?
Our training is professionally delivered and includes certification upon completion. Queensland practitioners must also complete the required Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments course to meet state requirements.
6. How long is the Fundamental SMP Training Course?
Our beginner course includes three days of intensive hands-on training plus two bonus one-on-one shadow days that can be completed within six months.
7. Will I practise on live models?
Yes. Live model training is one of the most valuable parts of our course. You'll gain real-world experience under Georgia's direct supervision before treating clients independently.
8. What equipment is included during training?
Professional SMP machines are supplied during your training. Depending on the package selected, you may also receive a complete professional starter kit to begin your SMP career.
9. Will I learn colour theory?
Absolutely. You'll learn pigment selection, colour theory, skin undertones, and how to match pigments for different skin tones and male and female hair loss patterns.
10. Will I learn natural hairline design?
Yes. Hairline design is one of the most important aspects of Scalp Micropigmentation. You'll learn facial proportions, symmetry, age-appropriate hairlines, soft hairlines, broken hairlines, and natural-looking designs.
11. Do you teach SMP for women?
Yes. Our courses cover female density treatments, including thinning hair, widening parts, temple recession, and creating natural density for longer hairstyles.
12. Do you teach SMP for men?
Yes. You'll learn how to treat male pattern baldness, receding hairlines, crown thinning, diffuse thinning, and complete shaved-head SMP procedures.
13. Can I learn scar camouflage?
Yes. Advanced students can learn techniques for camouflaging FUT scars, FUE scars, accident scars, and selected scalp scars using Scalp Micropigmentation.
14. Will I learn client consultations?
Yes. We teach consultation techniques, client assessment, managing expectations, treatment planning, pricing, consent forms, photography, and aftercare education.

Training is conducted at Hair Ink SMP Gold Coast in Broadbeach, Queensland. Mobile training at your clinic may also be available by arrangement.

Yes. Professional before-and-after photography is an important part of building your portfolio. You'll learn lighting, angles, positioning, and image capture techniques.

Once the training session has been completed, you'll return for your professional Scalp Micropigmentation treatment, performed exclusively by Georgia Elson using premium pigments and advanced SMP techniques to achieve a natural-looking, long-lasting result.
This approach gives students valuable real-world experience while ensuring every model receives a professionally completed treatment.
